  1. It’s not Nintendo’s fault, it’s Adobe’s. To run flash outside of Windows,OSX or Linux you need to use the flash SDK and it’s only up to version 7.

  2. Flash SDK hasn’t existed since 1997. It’s only not even supported anymore, which is why it never passed version 7.

Flash Lite is what has succeeded the Flash SDK and Flash Lite 3.1 is roughly equivalent to flash 8 with support for features from Flash 9 and 10 such as h.264 decoding and FLV video. Nintendo is not going to pressure Adobe to upgrade Flash Lite because Nintendo doesn’t make any money from the Internet channel and a superior flash in the internet channel would compete (vi flash based games) with games sold in the Shop Channel.

  3. If Nintendo upgrades flash, they would have more competition. But then they also would have owners, like me, wiping the dust off there Wii’s and start using em again. Probably buying more games for it also, IMHO.

But, in our luck, they probably have an exclusive contract with Netflix so they wont be doing it anytime soon….
